“He’s not gonna be President” – Donald Trump dismisses claims billionaire Elon Musk would take over U.S. presidency
Donald Trump the incoming US president has denied rumors that billionaire Elon Musk would become president.
Calling it another “hoax” propagated by his political rivals Trump denied to a crowd of supporters that he had “ceded the presidency” to the billionaire businessman.
Referring to memes and rumours circulating in social media, Trump told the audience, “No, no. That’s not happening. He’s not gonna be president.” He joked about Musk’s South African birthplace, adding, “You know why he can’t be [president]? He wasn’t born in this country”, reported the Associated Press (AP).
Musk who is currently the richest man in the world supported Trump during the election campaign after the president-elect escaped an attempted murder.
An estimated $200 million was also given by him to a Trump-supporting Political Action Committee (PAC).
Elon Musk has since been appointed by Trump to head the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) a panel that would drastically cut federal spending.
